Churchfields makes a splash for Nutrition and Hydration Week

This year, Churchfields joined the global celebration of Nutrition and Hydration Week from 11-17 March, with a theme that resonated with our residents: Reinforce, Focus, Energise.

Nutrition and Hydration Week has taken place every March since 2012 with the aim to bring people together to create energy, focus and fun in order to highlight and educate them on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and well being in the health and social care industry.

Throughout the week, we focused on creating a fun and engaging atmosphere as we emphasised the importance of eating healthy, balanced meals and staying hydrated to maintain our physical and mental health and wellbeing.

We kicked off the week by transforming our common area into a tropical paradise. Residents donned colourful grass skirts and flower necklaces, ready to embrace the island spirit. The day began with a splash of fun with Hula dancing lessons. It turns out, our residents have hidden talents – they were naturals at it!

In the afternoon, we enjoyed a game of beach ball with some friendly competition and laughter filled the air as residents and staff members enjoyed themselves.

To keep everyone hydrated, we set up a “beachside” beverage station stocked with fresh fruit mocktails and even some cheeky cocktails for residents to enjoy. It was a fun yet relaxing day.

Later in the week, during our weekly arts and crafts session, we were treated with some indulgent Baileys hot chocolate with whipped cream and all the toppings. We also had some delicious cake on the side.

Nutrition and Hydration Week at Churchfields was a great success! We reinforced the importance of healthy habits through fun activities, focused on staying hydrated throughout the week, and energised our residents with laughter, games, and delicious treats.

At Churchfields, our residents’ physical and mental health and wellbeing are our top priorities and we strive to keep them healthy and happy during their time with us.
