Mayor Of Witney Visits Churchfields Community Dementia Café
Churchfields Care Home recently welcomed Cllr Jane Doughty, Mayor of Witney, to its monthly Community Dementia Café at Witney Library.

The Mayor spent her time meeting residents and their families, as well as carers and members of the local community, and saw first-hand how the café has become an important local resource and is bringing people together in a relaxed and supportive setting.

Jane Doughty, Mayor of Witney, said:

“It has been a genuine pleasure to visit both Rosebank and Churchfields. On every occasion, I have been warmly welcomed by dedicated staff who clearly care deeply about the wellbeing and happiness of their residents. The atmosphere in both homes is friendly, positive and full of kindness, and it is wonderful to see residents encouraged to remain active, engaged and valued members of their community. I have always been impressed by the compassion, professionalism and sense of family that shines through in all that the teams do.”

Following her visit, Cllr Doughty said:

“Last week it was a real pleasure to attend the Dementia Café at Witney Library. They do a fantastic job of supporting so many people in our community – thank you for everything you do.”

The Community Dementia Café is hosted by Churchfields Care Home on the first Monday of every month. It offers people living with dementia, along with their families and carers, a welcoming place to enjoy refreshments, take part in activities, meet others and share experiences with people who understand the many challenges of dementia.

Sharon Rhodes, Home Manager at Churchfields Care Home, said:

“We are incredibly grateful to the Mayor for taking the time to visit our Dementia Café. Community connections are at the heart of everything we do, and it was wonderful to showcase the support available to local people affected by dementia.”

Churchfields Care Home would like to thank everyone who continues to show up and support the Dementia Café. The group is open to anyone affected by dementia, and new visitors are always welcome to join us
