From Harvest Festival to arts and crafts, here’s what we’ve been up to

We are well and truly into the Autumn season now and there is something very special about this time of the year, particularly with the joys of Christmas and Halloween. However, the colder months can also bring their challenges as the colder weather approaches.

To maintain health and wellbeing, we’ve been enjoying a whole host of activities at Churchfields.

Harvest Festival

Our residents kicked off the month by celebrating the Harvest Festival, which included a variety of fun-filled activities, such as decorating the home, singing hymns, enjoying traditional harvest dishes and connecting with community groups.

Residents embraced the charitable side of Harvest Festival and donated non-perishable tinned food and goods from the kitchen, and delivered them to St Peter’s Church in the village, to help those in the community who might be struggling with their day-to-day cost of living.

Covid vaccination

The autumn booster rollout began this month and to ensure the safety of our residents we were joined by Doctor Kemper to administer our fifth Covid booster ahead of winter.

Arts & crafts

Our residents love getting crafty, so we’ve been enjoying plenty of arts and crafts sessions here at Churchfields. And dare we say it, our residents spent a morning making their first batch of Christmas cards, a lot of fun was had by all!

The fun continued as we welcomed our favourite visitors into the home during October. We enjoyed a sing along with Tristan, a communion and service with Roger, and a spot of yoga with Muna. As always, we’re so grateful for all our visitors who continue to provide endless entertainment for our residents.

Enjoying the garden

With such delightful weather for October, how could we resist soaking up the sunshine in our garden? Our residents grabbed their fleeces, along with a cosy blanket and enjoyed their daily dose of vitamin D.

We now look forward to the thrill and enjoyment of Guy Fawkes’ bonfire night. Autumn is the perfect time of year for celebration.
