From Workouts to Birthdays, Here’s What We’ve Been Up To

The past couple of months have been hard for everyone. The health and safety of all of our residents have been our top priority, and we appreciate the hard work of our teams and the understanding of our families through these unprecedented times.

Despite the limitations, Churchfields Care Home has been going above and beyond to ensure our community remain positive. To support wellbeing, we’ve been enjoying a whole host of activities, spending plenty of time in our sunny garden and having frequent video calls with all of our loved ones.

New family member

One of our most exciting announcements is that we’ve welcomed a new member of the family: Ember! Ember is a delightful young black Labrador who will be providing companionship and joy to everyone at Churchfields.

Keeping fit

Exercise can play an essential role in boosting positivity and happiness amongst everyone, so we’ve ensured our residents can still enjoy regular sessions. Members of our community have been enjoying the Joe Wicks workouts, but we have also been hosting bespoke fitness sessions from Joanne Warren via Zoom.

Arts and crafts

Our residents love getting crafty, so we’ve been enjoying plenty of arts and crafts sessions. For Easter, we made our own chick art, complete with plenty of bright feathers. We also enjoyed the Creative Mojo Art Project, which gave all our community the chance to explore their creativity with a birdhouse mobile.

Pampering

Relaxation and pamper sessions have been something we’ve all been looked forward to. Our care team have been giving haircuts in our in-house salon to ensure we’re all feeling our best. Those who enjoy a manicure have also loved getting their nails painted.

Enjoying the garden

With the sun out and the temperatures getting warmer, we’ve been spending lots of time in our eco-garden. It’s the perfect time to soak up the sun as our residents are surrounded by the blooming meadow and prairie.

Our gardener, Barry, has also been hard at work, installing our new allotment area and herb garden – our green-fingered residents are thrilled to be able to start growing their own produce!

Celebrations

We’ve also celebrated plenty of birthdays, meaning there’s been lots of cake! Family members have been sending in gifts, and we’ve been making lots of sweet treats to make sure everyone has a special day.

We’ve also tried out our own fakeaways! Many residents have missed some of their favourite meals with families unable to bring it over. So far, we’ve recreated KFC to great success, and residents are now considering what they’d like to recreate next.

We’d also like to take the time to say a special thank you to all the friends, family and the wider Cassington community for their special messages and donations. Our team have been so thankful for everyone showing their appreciation for all of our hard work. We have loved all the gifts, cards and letters from everyone.

To keep up to date with what our residents are up to each day, like our Facebook page where we regularly post pictures and updates.
