Churchfields Care Home receives a flying visit

Churchfields residents got up close and personal to some wise old owls recently when Als Owls swooped into our home to celebrate National Bird Day.

There were smiles all around as the feathered friends put on a display for residents, who were able to don the protective handling glove and pet the stunning creatures.

In addition to providing much needed companionship to the elderly, animals have been found to help people relax, keep blood pressure and heart rate down, whilst also having positive physical and psychological effects.

Jane Roberts, owner of Churchfields Care Home, said: “Animals have never failed to brighten up someone’s day, so it was lovely that our residents were able to experience these beautiful animals in the comfort of their own home.”
